You May Not Be 'Past the Point of Rescue'
What we see and feel is powerful and real yet we aren't seeing everything
When traumatic social situations happen, we might come to believe, in our pain that we are past the point of rescue. That’s a depressing pit in which to fall and remain.
Natural yet dangerous.
Regardless of the depth of our suffering, the reality is we do have untapped resilience in ourselves. It’s just not always simple to access. Yet it’s there.
You could be saying, “No, it’s not. Don’t tell me what you think. I know because I’m the one living it.” If you did think or say this, I believe you and fully respect the experience you’re living.
It’s difficult to move through life trauma-free. I’m sure some people succeed or are less affected by it yet I’m not one of them and you likely aren’t either. What I hope to pose to you here today or tonight, depending on when you read this, is that maybe there is a little more power in us sometimes that is available that we are not recognizing or considering, if not accessed on our own then maybe so through a higher power, support group or the help of professional assistance.
If you say, “This is simply not true. Stop it.” I’d ask for permission to ask you a question.
If you granted that permission, I’d ask, “How did you make it all the way to today?”
I mean, life doesn’t play nice. It’s not gentle. It’s hard. So how did you make it through all you have endured and suffered so far, to still be keep on keepin’ on?
You have been resilient. Somehow, some way. Yes, you have. You might look in the rearview mirror and wonder how you did it? Maybe you know. Yet you have still been a part, even if a small part, of that “bounce back.”
Where in the world am I going with this point?
Life can be overwhelming at times, it can feel hopeless, it can seem like “the end.” Maybe, health wise, that is a fact. Most of the time, if not on your own, then with the assistance of a higher power (if you are a believer), support system or professional help, you have shown and can again that you can not only survive, overcome and become stronger and happier, you will.
